Cashew

Plantation systems for nut and apple yield

Site preparation, grafted-clone planting, integrated pest management and harvest optimisation for sustained productivity over decades.

Cashew

Cashew is one of the most under-optimised commercial crops in India — most plantations operate at a fraction of their potential. Our cashew programme starts with grafted high-yielding clones (Vengurla, Ullal, VRI series), proper spacing, and disciplined Year-1 establishment. From there, the focus shifts to canopy architecture, tea-mosquito-bug management at flushing and flowering, and clean nut collection. We also advise on cashew-apple utilisation — feni, juice concentrates, syrups — which can add a meaningful second revenue stream from what is usually a wasted by-product.

How we help with Cashew

  • High-yielding grafted clones with proven local performance
  • Tea mosquito bug and stem borer management protocols
  • Canopy training for light penetration and easier harvest
  • Cashew-apple value addition for additional revenue
  • Sun-drying yard design for clean, export-grade raw nuts
First harvest
Year 3
Mature yield
8–12 kg nuts per tree
Productive lifespan
30+ years

Figures are indicative for well-managed plantations and vary by site, variety, soil, season and management practice. They are not a projection of returns for any specific project.
